The prettiest satin shirt dress in rich teal helps usher in the vibe of a new season.

Fall is almost here and I’m itching to break out the seasonal pieces– the weather, on the other hand, isn’t exactly cooperating. I don’t know why I’m surprised; September is rarely anything but a sweatbox in KC. So I have to get my autumn style kicks for the latest issue of KC Homes & Style another way: through tones and shoe choices instead of knits and layers. And it all starts with this jewel tone satin shirt dress.
The dress is perfect for walking that summer-to-fall transition: the color, length, and longer sleeves make it fall-friendly. But the overall weight– a breezy but substantial satin– is just right for a September day with temps in the 80s. Instead of belting this satin shirt dress with the matching tie, I looped on a statement belt. I love the wrap feature and that big gold buckle, and it helped add some drama to the dress.
The shoe choice was another autumn-adjacent decision. I could’ve gone full-flown fall and done a tall boot, but again, too hot. An ankle boot to the rescue! These gray croc versions really brought the edge with their block heel, Western shape, and super sharp toe.

Are you in the same seasonal boat as me and looking to add some autumn vibes to your wardrobe? Start choosing those deep, rich tones we’re used to seeing once summer fades. Think burgundies, royal purples, pumpkin-spiced oranges, and forest greens. And work a boot or two into your outfits! They help anchor your look in a cooler season than, let’s say, a sandal or even a simple sneaker.
